Fire service prevents explosion after 45,000-litre fuel tanker overturns in Anyinam

A fuel tanker carrying 45,000 litres of petrol overturned near the railway station in Anyinam Railway Station after reportedly veering off the road into a muddy ditch while travelling from Tema to Burkina Faso.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service at the Anyinam Fire Station responded quickly to secure the area, conduct cooling operations, and monitor for fuel leaks or possible fire outbreaks to prevent an explosion.

The driver suffered minor injuries. Officers from the Ghana Police Service and the National Road Safety Authority also assisted with traffic control and safety management at the scene.

Authorities say investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident.
