Lawyers for Joana Quaye have strongly rejected allegations made by businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye during a recent television interview, describing the claims as false and potentially prejudicial to ongoing court proceedings.

In a statement issued on Monday, the law firm of Dame & Partners said comments made by Quaye on The Delay Show, hosted by Deloris Frimpong Manso, were “substantially untrue” and damaging to their client’s reputation.

The firm said the interview was granted while an appeal is pending before the Court of Appeal, following “Final Orders” issued by the High Court in Accra on 20 January 2026.

According to the lawyers, the timing of the broadcast raises concerns about attempts to influence public opinion and undermine the judicial process.

“We consider this as an effort to unfairly prejudice the minds of the public against our client and impede the fair administration of justice,” the statement said.

Dispute over marriage and business interests

The lawyers maintained that the marriage between Joana Quaye and Richard Nii Armah Quaye in 2010 is a matter of public record, citing proceedings from the High Court dated March 13, 2024.

They further stated that the couple jointly established Quick Credit & Investment Micro-Credit Company Limited in 2011, with both parties listed as original shareholders.

The firm alleged that Joana Quaye’s shares in the company were later transferred “secretly and illegally” without her knowledge, adding that court records also show the business was used to acquire properties and set up other companies during the marriage.

“These are documented matters of public record and cannot be altered through a media interview,” the statement said.

Call for restraint amid active proceedings

Dame & Partners said the appeal filed by their client has been duly served, with records settled in accordance with court rules, and warned against commentary that could interfere with the case.

They urged the public to disregard what they described as “wild and unfounded claims,” including assertions by Quaye that he had amassed significant wealth prior to the marriage.

The lawyers dismissed such claims, including references to alleged ownership of a Volkswagen Passat, as a “mere publicity stunt”.

Reliance on judicial process

The firm said Joana Quaye would refrain from engaging in media exchanges and instead rely on the courts to resolve the dispute.

“Our client will continue to maintain her silence and place her faith in the justice system of Ghana,” the statement said, expressing confidence that she would obtain justice and an equitable distribution of marital property in line with Ghanaian law.

The interview has sparked public debate in Ghana, with legal observers cautioning against parallel media trials in cases still before the courts.
