The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is convening a high-level dialogue aimed at strengthening the participation of women and young people in governance, peacebuilding, and regional integration.
The meeting, organised through the Department of Human Development and Social Affairs and the ECOWAS Centre for Gender Development, will take place from 2 to 4 March 2026 in Saly-Portudal, Senegal.
The dialogue seeks to explore strategies for mobilising women and youth and enhancing their contribution to security, economic cooperation, and social development across the sub-region.
The consultations form part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of ECOWAS and are linked to the broader “Summit of the Future” initiative intended to shape the bloc’s next phase of regional cooperation.
According to organisers, discussions will focus on practical measures to deepen inclusion and ensure that young people and women play active roles in decision-making processes that influence peace and stability.
The high-level engagement is expected to draw participation from policymakers, development partners, and civil society stakeholders as part of efforts to strengthen governance frameworks and regional integration strategies.
