The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has returned to active duty, effectively dispelling weeks of speculation about his health and whereabouts.
A social media post shows Basintale in high spirits at his office, engaging with colleagues and aides during working hours.
His appearance marks his first public-facing work activity since rumours emerged late last year suggesting he was unwell.
The footage, which has circulated widely on social media since Tuesday, has drawn supportive messages from sections of the public, with many welcoming his return to the administrative front.
The speculation can be traced to comments made in November 2025 by Abronye DC, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Speaking on his Facebook-based programme, The Evidence Show, Abronye alleged that Basintale had been battling ill health and had been taken abroad for treatment.
Although no evidence accompanied the claims, the commentary quickly ignited debate across political and online spaces, with some suggesting—again without confirmation—that the YEA chief had suffered a stroke.
Basintale later addressed the claims directly, dismissing them as misinformation.
In a Facebook post at the height of the controversy, he clarified that he had not suffered any medical emergency and had not travelled outside the country for treatment.
