Ghanaian Afro-dancehall star Stonebwoy has revealed that he might have pursued a career in the military if music had not worked out.
Speaking in a recent interview in London, the ‘Jejereje’ hitmaker said he has long been drawn to the discipline and structure associated with military life.
“Personally, I would have loved to be a soldier. I just love the uniform and the discipline that comes with it. It fascinates me,” he said.
Influence of upbringing
Stonebwoy attributed his interest to his upbringing, noting that his father, a former military officer, instilled in him values of discipline and orderliness from an early age.
He disclosed that his decision to pursue music initially created some tension at home, particularly with his father, who had different expectations.
“I had a little hurdle with my dad at first, but now it’s what it is. You can’t stop what it’s supposed to be,” he said.
Despite the early challenges, Stonebwoy has gone on to become one of Ghana’s most prominent music figures, building a career defined by consistency and global reach.
