The Ghana Police Service has stepped up efforts to restore calm in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region following recent violent attacks that left three persons dead.
The Oti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Alex Acquah, on Thursday (26 March 2026) led a joint security delegation to the area to engage personnel and community leaders as part of measures to maintain peace and security.
During the visit, the commander met with police officers and urged them to remain vigilant and uphold professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The delegation, made up of personnel from the police, military, Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), and Defence Intelligence, also visited the Zongo community where they engaged the Zongo Chief, Alhaji Issaka Kayaba, and his elders.
The team conveyed condolences on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Management Board (POMAB) to families of the three persons who lost their lives in the attacks.
The chief assured the delegation of the community’s commitment to peace and non-retaliation.
As part of the visit, the Regional Commander inspected the scene of a previous arson incident at Dadaga, where two persons were killed.
The Regional Police Command says it is closely monitoring the situation and working with other security agencies to prevent further escalation.
Residents have been urged to remain law-abiding, cooperate with security authorities and avoid spreading misinformation that could heighten tensions.
