Ghanaians have been urged to show strong support for the senior national team, the Black Stars, ahead of their international friendly against Austria on Friday, 27 March 2026.
The call was made by the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who encouraged citizens to wear Ghana jerseys as a symbol of national unity and pride.
In a post shared on social media, Asiedu Nketia appealed to supporters to back the team.
“Tomorrow, our Black Stars face Austria! Get your jerseys ready. Let’s make tomorrow a Wear Your Ghana Jersey day. Let’s show our boys we’re behind them!” he wrote.
The friendly forms part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as the team seeks to build momentum ahead of the global tournament.
Head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, has expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the match.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference in Vienna, Addo said the technical team has thoroughly analysed their opponents.
“Now the full focus is on Austria. We saw what they do, we have analysed them well, and we are very hopeful that the players will do it at the end,” he said.
