Six students from Aggrey Memorial Senior High School in Cape Coast have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a final-year student of Adisadel College, leaving him with serious injuries and a fractured eye socket.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, 20 February 2026, around 3:30 pm at Pedu Junction, shortly after the inter-colleges sports festival at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The victim, Rexford Owusu-Ansah, was walking back to campus with two friends when the Aggrey Memorial students confronted them about their school affiliation and allegedly attacked them.
While Owusu-Ansah’s friends managed to escape, he was reportedly kicked to the ground, beaten, and robbed of his iPhone 17 Pro Max, GHC1,400 in cash, and shoes.
Owusu-Ansah was first taken to the stadium clinic before being referred to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital, where he was discharged on Sunday, 22 February.
According to a police-endorsed medical report, he suffered a fractured nerve bone in his right eye, rendering him unable to open the eye, with reports that the eyeball appeared displaced.
The juvenile suspects—Samuel Ankuri (13), Gad Akologo (17), Lartey Jasse (17), Scott Okyere (16), Lord Yamoah (16), and Jerome Appiah Toku (17)—were arrested and detained by police to assist with investigations. Two of the victim’s friends confirmed they could identify the attackers.
The Central Regional Police Command condemned the violence and assured the public that the offenders would face the full rigours of the law.
