Legendary Ghanaian media personality and musician Jon Germain brought his children, Winter and Beckham, to the Asaase Rush Hour studio on Friday, giving fans a rare glimpse into his personal life while reflecting on a remarkable 30-year career in radio, television, and music.
During a lively conversation with host Elvis Crystal, Germain recounted his journey from his early days at Choice FM in 1996, through his first TV appearance on Metro TV, and later on popular shows.
He praised the mentors who shaped his career, and reflected on how the evolution of Ghanaian music—from highlife and hiplife to Afrobeat—has paralleled his professional growth.
“I’ve always believed that if there’s good, there has to be best, and if there’s best, there has to be excellence,” Germain said, describing his meticulous approach to both music and interviews.”
“From recording his early hit Quiver, which was ranked among the world’s top love songs by The Atlantic USA, to navigating the modern era of AI-generated music, Germain spoke candidly about his commitment to quality and creativity.
He also shared insights about his family, introducing his daughter Winter and son Beckham in the studio. “Winter is sitting there scheming like, yeah, when I get off this seat, I’m moving here and I’m moving there,” he joked, while reflecting on how family remains central to his life despite a demanding career.
Germain hinted at future projects, including a potential book titled The Interview, which will chronicle the many personalities he has met and interviewed over his decades-long career.
