The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed appreciation to all stakeholders following the conclusion of its presidential primary on Saturday, which saw former vice president Mahamudu Bawumia emerge as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general election.
In a statement, the party congratulated Bawumia on his victory and commended all aspirants — including Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Bryan Acheampong, Yaw Osei Adutwum and Kwabena Agyei Agyapong — for their adherence to democratic principles and the maturity displayed during the process.
The NPP also lauded the work of its Presidential Elections Committee, led by Joseph Osei Owusu, as well as the Electoral Commission, Ghana Police Service, media, and party delegates for ensuring a peaceful, incident-free primary.
“As the contest has now concluded, the NPP calls on all members and supporters to unite, reconcile, and rally behind our elected flagbearer in the supreme interest of the Party,” the statement said.
The party said it would work “tirelessly” to secure victory in the next general election, adding that “the elephant is the winning symbol, and by the grace of God, we shall prevail.”
