Ralph Agyapong, brother of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong, has described the ongoing primary as peaceful and orderly after casting his ballot.
Speaking to the media at the polling centre on Saturday (31 January), he said the atmosphere had been calm, with delegates voting and leaving without incident.
“So far so good. The atmosphere here has been very peaceful. People are voting and leaving to do their other activities. Hopefully by two o’clock we should be done,” he said.
Ralph Agyapong, a member of his brother’s campaign team, expressed confidence that Kennedy Agyapong would win the contest, claiming many delegates believe the former Assin Central MP is best placed to reposition the party.
“I’ve spoken to a lot of the delegates and they think Kennedy Agyapong is the only person who can change the direction of the party now,” he said.
He argued that the party needed strong grassroots leadership ahead of the 2028 general elections and highlighted what he described as Kennedy Agyapong’s track record and anti-corruption stance.
“If the processes are fair and someone else is declared winner, you have no cause to complain. All he wants is fairness,” he added.
Voting is ongoing nationwide as thousands of delegates elect the NPP’s presidential flagbearer.
