A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary hopeful, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, has been charged in the United States following a reported domestic stabbing involving his wife.
The 41-year-old Harrisburg resident faces three serious charges, including Attempted Homicide (Felony 1), Possession of an Instrument of Crime (Misdemeanor 1), and Tampering with Evidence (Misdemeanor 2), according to court records.
Authorities say the incident occurred on Saturday, January 17, 2026, around 10 a.m., along Mayfair Drive in Lower Paxton Township, Pennsylvania. First responders rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where she is reportedly in stable condition. Police confirmed there was no danger to the public following the incident.
Local media reports suggest the alleged stabbing was the result of a domestic argument rather than a random act of violence. Investigators are continuing to piece together the circumstances leading up to the event.
Nortey was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Judy, who denied him bail. He is now being held at Dauphin County Prison while awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for January 26, 2026.
The former NPP candidate, who once contested the Klottey Korle parliamentary seat, has not publicly commented on the incident. It is also unclear whether he has legal representation in the U.S. or intends to contest the charges.
Authorities continue to stress the importance of domestic safety, urging victims to report abuse immediately. This case has also drawn attention to the responsibilities of public figures, highlighting how allegations of domestic violence can have international implications.
Investigations remain ongoing as Nortey awaits further court action.
