Ashanti region: four robbery suspects in custody as police retrieve firearms and stolen items

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested four individuals in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on 7 December 2025, at Kunsu in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects — identified as Yahyah Seidu (24), Atta Esrael (32), Victor Gyan (26), and Stanley Wiafe Akenten (30) — allegedly attacked a resident, Kingsley Asare, stealing his mobile phone, gold, and cash as he returned from a mining site.

Authorities said the suspects are part of a gang believed to have terrorized residents in the area.

Details

At a press conference on Wednesday, Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto said the police recovered two pump-action guns, 22 BB cartridges, five mobile phones, including the victim’s, and 5,400 cedis in cash.

He added that two other suspects remain at large.

“We interrogated them upon arrest, and they have admitted the offense. They will be brought to book,” DCOP Osei Akoto said.

“The suspects will be arraigned before court to face the law.”

Reassurance

The police commander reassured the public of their safety and pledged continued investigations to apprehend all individuals involved.

The arrests come amid a series of security operations in the Ashanti Region aimed at reducing armed robberies and safeguarding local communities.
