The Vice-Chancellor of Koforidua Technical University (KTU), Professor John Owusu, has underscored the importance of modern equipment in delivering effective competency-based training at the institution.
He said technical education relies heavily on hands-on learning, making the availability of appropriate tools essential to preparing students for the world of work.
Professor Owusu therefore commended the Chancellor of the University, Dr. Paa Kwasi Yankah, for donating equipment to support practical training across key departments.
The donated items include electric sewing machines, electric spray guns, and clutch parts.
The equipment will be used by the Engineering Department as well as the Fashion and Textiles Department.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the donation will enhance students’ practical skills and ensure they are industry-ready by the time they complete their programmes.
Presenting the items, Dr. Paa Kwasi Yankah said his role as Chancellor goes beyond ceremonial duties.
He explained that he has a responsibility to support the university in providing the resources needed for effective hands-on training.
Yankah added that equipping students with practical skills is critical to producing competent graduates who can contribute meaningfully to national development.
