The Bawumia Campaign has accused the NDC government of underperforming in its first year in office, claiming it has delivered barely 36 per cent of promises scheduled for implementation within 12 months.
Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Monday (12 January), Miracles Aboagye said his team assessed the government’s performance strictly against timelines outlined in the NDC’s own manifesto.
He explained that while the manifesto categorises promises into short-, medium-, and long-term goals, the assessment focused only on commitments meant to be achieved in the first year.
“Out of about 60 to 70 first-year promises, only 32 have been fully implemented, four partially implemented, and most of these are committee formations, launches, and inaugurations,” he said.
Aboagye contrasted this with the NPP’s first year in office in 2017, when major policies such as Free Senior High School and NABCO were rolled out within 12 months.
He also criticised the government’s failure to ease cost-of-living pressures, citing delays in salary payments for nurses and teachers and the slow rollout of the 24-hour economy policy.
According to him, the administration has prioritised optics over substance by managing headline economic figures while starving the private sector of capital.
“The economy may look good on paper, but the real sectors are struggling. When people do not feel relief in their pockets, the numbers mean nothing,” he said.
