Lawyer Antwi-Agyei unveils bold unity agenda to reclaim Bono for NPP by 2028

A leading figure within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region, Lawyer Kwaku Antwi-Agyei, has announced an ambitious plan to reunite the party and reclaim its lost parliamentary dominance ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The private legal practitioner, who is contesting for the position of Second Vice Chairman of the party in the region, says restoring unity and rebuilding grassroots strength will be central to reversing the NPP’s fortunes after its heavy electoral setback in 2024.

In an interview with Asaase News, Antwi-Agyei identified voter apathy as a decisive factor behind the party’s poor showing, which saw the NPP lose 11 out of 12 parliamentary seats in what has traditionally been considered one of its strongholds.

“Low enthusiasm and weak participation among our supporters significantly affected our performance,” he stated, stressing that the party’s base must be re-energised if it is to regain its footing.

Antwi-Agyei expressed confidence that a renewed focus on grassroots mobilisation would reignite support across the region.

He pledged to work closely with regional executives to strengthen party structures, reconnect with disillusioned supporters, and rebuild trust within the rank and file.

He further revealed that many residents and party faithful have since expressed regret over their decision to abstain from the 2024 elections an indication, he believes, that the party still commands latent support that can be reactivated.

“The Bono Region remains a natural stronghold of the NPP, but we faltered due to disengagement. Our task now is to restore unity, rekindle enthusiasm, and strengthen internal cohesion,” he said.

His remarks come at a critical moment for the NPP in the Bono Region, as the party intensifies efforts to reorganise and reposition itself following its electoral losses.

With internal restructuring underway, Antwi-Agyei’s unity-driven message signals a broader push to rebuild a formidable political front capable of reclaiming lost ground in 2028.

Political observers say the success of such efforts will depend largely on the party’s ability to translate renewed rhetoric into sustained grassroots action an undertaking that could determine whether the NPP reasserts its dominance or continues to cede ground in the region.
