“A painful loss for the NPP” — Wontumi mourns Maxwell Kofi Nti

New Patriotic Party (NPP) national chairman aspirant Bernard Antwi-Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi has expressed condolences following the death of Maxwell Kofi Nti, describing the loss as painful for the party.

Wontumi, who is the current NPP Ashanti Regional chairman is urging party members to prioritise safety during ongoing internal electoral activities.

In a statement issued on Sunday (17 May) and copied to atlanticafricanews.com/ Chairman Wontumi said he received the news of Nti’s death with “profound sadness” following a fatal road accident during a monitoring exercise linked to ongoing Polling Station Executive elections in the Akim Oda Constituency.

Nti, who served as personal aide to Akwasi Acquah, was described by Wontumi as a dedicated party member whose death represented a significant loss to the party and his community.

“His untimely passing in the line of duty to the party and constituency work is a painful loss not only to his family and loved ones, but also to the entire New Patriotic Party fraternity,” the statement said.

Chairman Wontumi extended sympathies to the deceased's family, the Oda lawmaker, constituency executives and party supporters mourning the loss.

He also expressed concern for survivors of the accident, particularly the Deputy Constituency Organiser who, according to the statement, remains in critical condition at the Koforidua Regional Hospital.

The statement further urged party members, campaign teams and polling station executives to exercise caution while participating in activities connected to ongoing party processes.

The Wontumi Campaign Team separately issued a condolence message, describing the incident as a tragic loss at a time when party members across the country were engaged in strengthening grassroots structures ahead of future political activities.
