Describing her as a woman of “grace, humility, and quiet strength,” the family said Afrifa lived a life defined by devotion to family, dignity, and a deep commitment to national values.
The Ekuona Family of Akyem Asafo, together with the elders of Agbozuame, has informed the public that a one-week observation will be held on Friday, 24 January 2026. Details of the final funeral rites will be announced later.
Obaa Yaa Afrifa was the wife of Lt. Gen. Akwasi Amankwa Afrifa, who served as Head of State of Ghana between 1969 and 1970.
The family has appealed to the public and media houses to take note of the arrangements and to keep them in their prayers.
