The Member of Parliament for Akuapem North Sammi Awuku has launched a youth-focused skills training initiative in the Constituency to address rising unemployment.
The programme, known as the Akuapem North Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Programme (ANSDEP), is being implemented in partnership with Blacksmith Africa.
It aims to equip young people with practical, income-generating skills while promoting entrepreneurship and long-term economic sustainability.
The initiative begins with an initial cohort of 120 participants, who will receive hands-on training in areas such as agro-processing, fashion, aquaculture, bakery, and soap making.
Speaking at the launch, Awuku described unemployment in the constituency as a growing concern that affects both individuals and the wider community.
He noted that the programme fulfills key campaign promises, including supporting women-led enterprises, expanding small-scale businesses, and establishing sustainable skills development opportunities.
He urged beneficiaries to take the programme seriously, emphasizing self-reliance, discipline, and determination as critical to achieving economic independence.
Managing Partner of Blacksmith Africa, Boahemaa Ntim, highlighted the programme’s comprehensive approach.
She explained that participants would not only receive technical training but also gain the knowledge needed to build and sustain viable businesses.
She encouraged participants to fully commit to the training to maximize its long-term benefits.
