NDC dismisses opposition criticism, cites past economic record

The National Democratic Congress has rejected opposition criticism over central bank losses, pointing to what it describes as a worse economic record under the previous administration.

Ibrahim Ali said the opposition lacked credibility to criticise current policies, citing losses and negative equity recorded in earlier years.

“In 2022 alone, losses exceeded 60 billion cedis… so what is special about the current figure?” he said.

He argued that the current administration is correcting structural problems inherited from its predecessors.

“The mess they created is what we are fixing,” he said.

Ali also accused opposition figures of politicising economic issues rather than offering constructive alternatives.

“If you criticise, do so constructively… not just to score political points,” he said.

He maintained that recent economic indicators — including lower inflation, improved reserves, and reduced lending rates — show the government is on the right track.

“The results are clear… Ghanaians can see the difference,” he added.
