Ghana’s growing youthful population and talent base are attracting global academic partnerships, with Bryant University positioning itself as a long-term collaborator in shaping future leaders.
This follows a strategic engagement leveraging the opportunity of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and Team Ghana’s base camp hosting, aimed at building sustainable partnerships among stakeholders in Ghana, Rhode Island, and Bryant University.
Vice President for Strategy and Partnerships at Bryant University, Edi Tebaldi, underscored the importance of mutual collaboration, stating, “We see Ghana as a partner where we can share our knowledge but at the same time learn from you, work with you, and listen to your needs.”
He added that the goal is to develop future leaders through shared expertise and long-term engagement.
“We want to take the time to start these conversations and build a relationship that can last much longer beyond the World Cup.”
Tebaldi further revealed ongoing discussions with institutions including the University of Ghana to promote student and faculty exchanges between Ghana and the United States.
Meanwhile, a Ghanaian student at Bryant University, Augustine Boadi, highlighted the role of institutional support in balancing academics and athletics. “It’s definitely not an easy thing, but with the right people and the right support that we have at Bryant, we’re able to do that smoothly,” he said.
Boadi described the collaboration as deeply meaningful, adding, “Two of the most important things in my life are finally coming together: Ghana being my home and Bryant being my hope.” He also expressed excitement about the Ghana Black Stars training opportunity in the United States.
Director General of the National Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, praised the initiative as a model for future collaborations.
“This is very important; it’s an example of what can be possible,” he said, adding that such partnerships will help create templates for similar opportunities in sports and education.
He also commended the role of the Ghana Football Association and Lady Dentaa Amoateng in coordinating the effort.
The engagement is expected to strengthen international cooperation and open new pathways for Ghanaian talent beyond the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
