The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has confiscated several unregistered products during an enforcement operation at the Porials Pitch 3 event held at Ghud Park in Accra on Saturday, 18 April 2026.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, 19 April, the Authority said the exercise was part of ongoing surveillance efforts aimed at protecting public health and preventing consumers from exposure to unsafe goods.
According to the FDA, its enforcement team identified and seized multiple items that had not been registered in accordance with regulatory requirements during routine checks at the event.
The Authority warned that the sale and distribution of unregistered products pose significant health risks, as such goods are not subjected to mandatory safety, quality, and efficacy evaluations before entering the market.
It stressed that all consumable products and cosmetics must undergo proper registration before being approved for sale in Ghana, adding that it will continue to intensify monitoring at public gatherings, markets, and commercial centres.
Although the FDA did not disclose specific details regarding the types and quantities of products seized, it reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding consumers and enforcing compliance with public health regulations.
Porials Pitch 3, hosted by social media influencer Dulcie Boateng, attracted a large crowd and featured numerous vendors showcasing a variety of lifestyle, cosmetic, and consumer products.
The enforcement action adds to ongoing regulatory efforts to clamp down on the circulation of unapproved goods in Ghana’s informal and event-based retail spaces.
