Ghanaian singer and songwriter Camidoh has spoken about the strong professional bond he shares with fellow musician Stonebwoy, describing him as a dependable figure and mentor in an industry he says is often marked by mistrust.
In an interview on Hitz FM, Camidoh highlighted several instances where Stonebwoy extended support by connecting him to performance opportunities, sometimes stepping aside to allow him to take over shows.
“There have been times he called or got his manager to call me about gigs he couldn’t attend and wanted me to take over, expecting nothing in return,” he said.
He explained that such gestures have shaped his perception of Stonebwoy beyond professional ties, adding that he deeply respects him despite outside opinions.
“I mean even if ten times someone comes to tell me Stonebwoy doesn’t like you, I would still not take it because I mean this person has fed me before, so for sure I do take advice from him,” he added.
Camidoh further clarified that he does not view Stonebwoy as just a colleague, but rather a senior figure he turns to when necessary.
“I will call him a brother, like a big brother rather than a friend. We don’t really talk casually like that, but I go to him when I need him,” he explained.
The “Sugarcane” hitmaker also reflected on broader challenges within the entertainment industry, noting that trust remains a major issue among creatives.
“You will talk to somebody and they will go and sit with people they call friends and dissect it and make you look stupid. It happens a lot of the time,” he said.
As a result, he revealed that he has become more cautious about personal relationships within the industry, relying more on family support, particularly his mother, for guidance and prayer during key career decisions.
