The Suhum Kenkey Festival is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary next year, with a major developmental project aimed at benefiting the community.
Organizers have announced plans to construct a borehole for the people of Tetekasuom as part of activities marking the milestone.
The initiative is intended to improve access to clean water and support the well-being of residents.
Speaking on the project, festival organizer Kwadwo Omari noted that over the years, the festival has served as a platform for driving development in Suhum and its surrounding communities.
He highlighted some of the past contributions, including the donation of wheelchairs to the Suhum Government Hospital and the distribution of exercise books and learning materials to local schools.
“This year, our main focus is to construct a borehole for the people of Tetekasuom near Suhum and we are calling on everyone to come and support us,” Omari stated.
He added that the efforts of the festival organisers are meant to complement government initiatives by providing essential amenities to the community.
The three-day festival featured a variety of activities, including fitness exercises by different clubs, a law clinic where lawyers offered free legal advice, and the much-anticipated kenkey party.
