An Accra Circuit Court has remanded an unemployed man, Prince Terkpor, into lawful custody for allegedly stealing a police officer’s uniform, service pistol, mobile phone and cash.
Terkpor, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, was denied bail by presiding judge Dennis Fummy and is expected to reappear before the court on 1 April 2026.
The prosecution, led by Seth Frimpong and Inspector Priscilla Avorgah, opposed bail, stating that the accused is assisting with ongoing investigations into a separate robbery case at Michelle Camp. They assured the court that investigations would be expedited.
According to the prosecution, the complainant, Frederick Ablorh, a police officer with the Accra Regional Counter Terrorism Unit, resides in Tesano, where the accused also lived.
The court heard that on 18 February 2026, after returning from night duty, Ablorh visited his wife’s shop at Lapaz, where Terkpor worked as a shop assistant. While the officer was asleep, Terkpor allegedly disabled the shop’s CCTV system by removing its memory chip before stealing a bag containing a police uniform, identity cards, a Ghana Police Service pistol, an iPhone XR and GHC600.
Prosecutors further alleged that Terkpor later sold the stolen phone at Kwame Nkrumah Circle for GH¢400. He is also accused of checking into a hotel in Ashaiman, where he allegedly used the stolen firearm to carry out another robbery at Michelle Camp.
The case has been adjourned as investigations continue.
