The Turkish Defense ministry has said another Iranian ballistic missile has been shot down as it entered Turkish airspace.
The missile was neutralized by NATO air defense operating in the eastern Mediterranean, the ministry said.
NATO said it had intercepted a missile heading to Turkey. “NATO stands firm in its readiness to defend all Allies against any threat,” the military alliance’s spokesperson Allison Hart posted on X.
Some parts of the missile fell onto empty land in the area of Gaziantep, the Turkish ministry said. The south-central city of Gaziantep is about 40 kilometers (around 25 miles) from the Turkish border.
Last week, NATO forces in the eastern Mediterranean intercepted a suspected Iranian missile as it headed toward Turkey.
