Ghana Link Network Services Ltd. has denied claims that technical issues with the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS) were responsible for recent fuel supply disruptions reported by some Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).
The company issued a statement on Monday dismissing reports circulating in both traditional and social media that suggested the system had been down since 6 March, calling the claims “false, misleading, and wholly without basis.”
State-owned GOIL PLC and private operator Star Oil Ghana had previously attributed fuel shortages at some service stations to technical challenges with ICUMS, which is used to process tax liabilities and facilitate lifting of petroleum products from depots.
Ghana Link said the platform remained fully operational during the period in question and confirmed that transactions and stakeholder activities continued without interruption.
Following internal checks and consultation with the National Petroleum Authority, the company said the operational challenge affecting fuel lifting was linked to the NPA’s Enterprise Relational Database Management System, not ICUMS.
The company urged Star Oil Ghana to retract its statement and issue a public apology, warning that unsubstantiated claims could misinform the public and undermine confidence in a key national trade facilitation system.
