Ghana embassy issues emergency shelter advisory for citizens in Qatar

The Embassy of the Republic of Ghana, Doha has issued an emergency security advisory urging all Ghanaians living in Qatar to remain indoors and take shelter until further notice following heightened regional tensions and reports of a missile attack affecting Doha.

In an official release dated 28 February 2026, the embassy warned that the evolving security situation poses potential risks to residents and advised nationals to prioritise their safety.

“Due to missile attack and its impact in Doha, please take shelter until further notice, obtain information from official sources,” the statement said.

The mission further urged Ghanaians to stay away from military sites, avoid crowded public spaces and minimise movement outdoors to reduce exposure to danger.

Citizens were also advised to stock up on essential supplies, including medication and food, as a precautionary measure.

To assist nationals in distress, the embassy provided emergency contact lines and encouraged those needing help or updated information to reach out directly. The mission listed two hotlines and an official email address for urgent communication.

The advisory comes amid escalating tensions in the region, prompting several diplomatic missions to heighten safety measures for their citizens.

The embassy said it would continue to monitor developments closely and provide updates as necessary.
