Legendary Ghanaian musician and media personality Jon Germain thrilled fans on Friday during the Asaase Rush Hour with Elvis Crystal, previewing his highly anticipated new song, Deep.
Speaking in the studio alongside his children Winter and Beckham, Germain revealed that Deep was recorded over two years ago but only recently revisited after rediscovering the track on his computer.
“I started playing it and I was like, okay… everybody seems to be asking why I haven’t released a song in a while,” he said. The song received immediate approval from his children, solidifying his decision to release it.
Germain described Deep as a continuation of his signature R&B sound while acknowledging the influence of modern Afrobeat. “Majority of the Afrobeat songs have R&B traces,” he said, noting that the evolution of African music has always been closely tied to the genres he grew up loving.
The musician, whose career spans over three decades in radio, TV, and music, also reflected on his meticulous approach to recording.
“I always find a way. Excellence is the hallmark,” he said, recounting the precision and care that goes into every track, even when faced with challenges like studio issues or vocal setbacks.
Fans can expect Deep to showcase Germain’s trademark soulful vocals, rich storytelling, and the musical craftsmanship that has made him a staple of Ghanaian music.
