NPA denies gas shortage, urges consumers against panic buying

The National Petroleum Authority has dismissed claims of an impending shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), urging consumers not to engage in panic buying.

In a statement released Friday, the authority responded to comments by Dr Riverson Oppong, who had advised the public to fill their cylinders in anticipation of a gas shortfall.

The NPA said the country currently holds over a month’s supply of LPG, with local refineries operating at peak production. The authority also noted that, according to the national import plan, a shipment of LPG is scheduled to arrive within the next two weeks, further bolstering supply.

“Consumers are hereby advised to desist from panic buying and be rest assured that there is no impending shortage of LPG in Ghana,” the statement said.
