Anum Traditional Council launches 2026 Easter Festival, invites diaspora home

The Anum Traditional Council has officially launched activities for the 2026 Easter Festival, setting the stage for what leaders describe as a major cultural, economic and tourism boost for the historic riverside town of Anum.

The launch was led by the council’s head, Akusiaku Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIII, alongside traditional leaders and community stakeholders, as preparations began for the annual celebration scheduled for 2–6 April 2026.

Speaking at the event, the Acheampemhene of the council, Barima Dr Obeng Dompreh, called on Ghanaians and visitors to “channel their energy to Anum” for what he said would be a purposeful and transformative Easter experience.

“This is not just a celebration,” he stressed. “It is about heritage preservation, youth empowerment, tourism development and economic stimulation.”

More than festivities

According to organisers, the five-day festival will feature a broad mix of activities designed to reflect both tradition and development.

Dr Dompreh said the carefully curated programme aims to create opportunities for local businesses and young people while also showcasing Anum’s cultural identity to a wider audience.

“We want Easter in Anum to be meaningful — not only entertaining, but impactful for our people,” he added.

Diaspora invited home

The council extended a special invitation to sons and daughters of Anum living abroad to return home for the festival.

Leaders said the gathering will serve as an opportunity to reconnect families, strengthen community bonds and encourage investment and development initiatives in the area.

“We are calling on all our people in the diaspora to come home and make this year’s Easter memorable,” Dr Dompreh said.

He also expressed appreciation to Asaase Broadcasting Company Ltd for its continued support and partnership in promoting the festival and the community’s development agenda.

With months of preparations ahead, organisers say the 2026 edition is expected to draw large crowds and position Anum as one of Ghana’s key Easter destinations.
