The New Voter Forum (NVF) has called on government and the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) to urgently address delays in payments to cocoa farmers across the country.
In a statement issued on Wednesday (11 February 2026), the group expressed concern about what it described as prolonged payment delays, saying the situation is affecting farmers nationwide.
According to the Forum, the cocoa sector remains a critical pillar of Ghana’s economy, and any disruption in payments risks undermining confidence and morale within the industry.
While acknowledging what it described as severe funding challenges facing COCOBOD, the NVF questioned why the issue has persisted for an extended period.
The group said the delays have raised concerns about the timeliness of interventions to stabilise the sector.
The group called for open engagement and collective action to address the challenges confronting the cocoa industry.
It urged government and COCOBOD to settle outstanding payments without further delay, provide transparent updates on payment schedules, and implement coordinated measures to resolve funding constraints and prevent future occurrences.
The statement was signed by the Directorate of Corporate Affairs of the New Voter Forum.
