Drive to Inspire Africa Founder encourages youth to harness potential and protect intellectual property

Nana Adjoa Hackman, Founder of Drive to Inspire Africa (DTI-A), has urged young people across the continent to recognise their potential, invest in personal growth, and actively protect their intellectual property.

She made the call when she gave her closing remarks during the DTI-A NextUp breakfast meeting, held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Wednesday, 4th February 2026, as part of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2026 (APD 2026).

She highlighted the organization’s initiatives, which include a mentorship program operating in 12 African countries, a scholarship scheme supporting tertiary education, and monthly personal development webinars. She encouraged participants to take advantage of these opportunities by signing up as mentors, mentees, volunteers, or partners, and emphasised the value of learning, networking, and skill-building.

“Our mentorship program pairs mentees and mentors one-on-one and guides them,” Hackman said. “We also have scholarships for students who are brilliant but face financial challenges. All our programs are designed to help you learn, grow, and maximize your potential for the benefit of yourselves, your families, and your communities.”

Hackman also unveiled a new partnership with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to provide two months of intellectual property training, including certification upon successful completion. She noted that understanding and protecting intellectual property is crucial for creatives and innovators seeking long-term success.

“Intellectual property is vital in the creative and innovation space. With this training, you will gain practical knowledge and certification that empowers you to protect your work and maximize its value,” she said.

In addition, Hackman encouraged participants to take actionable lessons from the sessions, promising that those who commit to three actionable points would be paired with an accountability partner to support their growth.

The founder also acknowledged the contributions of her team, volunteers, and speakers, including mentors, creatives, and industry leaders who have supported the organization’s mission. She highlighted the organization’s merchandise line, Built for More, whose proceeds support scholarships for underprivileged students.

Hackman further reminded attendees that APD 2026 continues through Friday, including a youth forum, and encouraged participants to engage fully with the dialogues, network, and continue learning from the sessions.
