Two delegates in the Ablekuma North Constituency, Jones De-Graft, the Constituency Research Officer, and Abubakar Briamah, the Constituency Organiser, have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service at the Odorkor Saleria Basic 1 & 2 polling centre.
The arrests followed a scuffle involving former Member of Parliament Nana Akua Afriyie, who was present at the voting centre. Sources speaking on condition of anonymity revealed that the former MP had earlier instructed her team to remain on standby and approach the polling station as the close of voting drew nearer.
Police officers at the scene intervened to prevent any breach of security and directed all delegates within the inner perimeter to leave. One of the delegates reportedly resisted the order, which led to his arrest.
Nana Akua Afriyie was said to have vehemently opposed the arrest before the delegate was eventually placed in a police patrol vehicle.
The incident highlights rising tensions at the polling station as voting progressed and underscores the importance of maintaining order during electoral processes.
