Dennis Miracles Aboagye has criticised Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign strategy, accusing the former lawmaker of making promises to delegates in previous contests that were never fulfilled.
Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Friday (30 January), Aboagye questioned Agyapong’s renewed use of forms to collect delegate data, describing the move as insincere.
“This is the same stance he executed in 2023,” he said. “He went around with forms, promised constituency chairmen American visas. Three years on, none of them received anything.”
He asked what became of the database allegedly gathered in the earlier exercise.
“What did he do with those forms? Where are they?” he asked.
Aboagye further challenged claims that Agyapong has strong grassroots support, arguing that delegates are increasingly sceptical.
“Show me even 100 out of the 211,000 delegates that he has helped or employed anywhere,” he said. “There’s a difference between rhetoric and delivery.”
He also criticised what he described as comments and actions that gave political opponents “ammunition” against the party.
“There were videos and statements that the NDC used against us. Those things matter,” he added.
Despite the criticisms, Aboagye said the outcome of the vote would ultimately reflect the will of delegates.
“If he wins, it simply means that is what the people want. It’s democracy,” he said.
