Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, a contender for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership, has outlined plans to establish a national airline and boost industrialization if elected party leader and eventually Ghana’s president.
In a passionate appea to delegates on Thursday (29 January), Adutwum cited the successes of regional carriers in Rwanda and Ethiopia, emphasizing the potential economic benefits, including job creation and increased connectivity.
“Rwanda is doing it. Ethiopia is also leading, and they have benefited immensely from this, including jobs,” he said.
The NPP aspirant also highlighted strategies to enhance import substitution and increase local value addition.
“My vision is to add value to our raw materials by establishing more industries and factories before they are exported,” Adutwum stated, pointing to the potential for industrial growth and domestic job creation.
Adutwum, currently serving as MP for Bosomtwe Constituency is among five candidates vying for the flagbearer slot ahead of the 2028 election. Aspirants are holding last-minute engagement with delegates as campaigning ends in the next 24 hours.
