New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum said on Thursday he could unite the party ahead of its presidential primary, pitching himself to delegates as a candidate focused on economic reform and poverty reduction.
In a direct appeal to delegates, Adutwum said his track record in policy implementation positioned him to deliver practical improvements in living standards rather than political rhetoric.
He urged party members to back his bid, arguing that rising poverty and job insecurity required urgent national attention.
“Livable wages are something that we need to work on as a nation. And I am going to champion it, and I am going to do it because it’s the right thing to do. The idea that close to about 40% of the people are not working, or some who are working are still poor, is something that should concern us,” he said.

Aspirants have been engaging delegates as last minute campaigns ends in 24 hours. Dr Adutwum maintains his unblemished record as education minister makes him the best candidate to lead the opposition party to victory ahead of the 2028 election.
“Our party will see real progress under my leadership. Ghana will experience the full impact of the interventions I will champion to end poverty and expand opportunity for every citizen.
“I am in this race because I am committed to transforming our nation. I believe I am the Joshua of our time — ready to lead the NPP and Ghana into a new era of prosperity. I will not turn my back on you, and I will never abandon the vision we share for a better future,” he had told delegates during an engagement in the Ashanti Region.
