The management of Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC) in Legon, has condemned remarks made by lawyer and media personality Serwaa Amihere, who reportedly described the school as “a breeding ground for homosexuals.”
In a statement released on Saturday (17 January), PRESEC management called the comments “false, reckless and deeply offensive,” saying they unfairly maligned students and threatened the reputation of the institution.
“Any assertion to the contrary is a gross misrepresentation of who we are and what we stand for,” the statement said. PRESEC described itself as a mission institution governed by Presbyterian Christian values, emphasising its commitment to academic excellence, discipline, leadership, and moral formation.
Successes
The school highlighted its longstanding achievements, including repeated success at the National Science and Maths Quiz, and noted that its alumni have contributed to Ghanaian society in academia, public service, business, and civic life.
Statements of the nature attributed to Amihere, PRESEC said, expose students to ridicule, prejudice, and emotional harm, while attempting to erode the hard-earned reputation of the institution.
Management thanked parents, alumni, students, and the public for their continued confidence, assuring stakeholders that the school remains committed to delivering quality education and shaping young men into principled leaders and responsible citizens.
PRESEC did not indicate whether it plans to pursue legal action over the comments.
