GOIL cuts fuel prices at selected stations to ease transport costs

GOIL PLC has reduced fuel prices at selected service stations across the country as part of a targeted pricing intervention aimed at easing transportation costs and extending recent economic gains to ordinary Ghanaians.

Under the current pricing window, the price of Petrol (PMS) has been reduced to GH¢9.99 per litre, returning petrol prices to single-digit levels for the first time in nearly a decade. Diesel (AGO) has also been reduced to GH¢11.21 per litre at the designated stations.

The price reduction applies to strategically selected GOIL outlets located close to commercial vehicle terminals and major transport corridors. These stations primarily serve public transport operators and vehicles involved in the movement of food and goods from farm gates to urban and peri-urban markets.

According to GOIL, the intervention is intended to ensure that improvements in macroeconomic conditions translate into direct relief for commuters, transport operators, traders and consumers. The company said lower fuel prices at high-impact locations are expected to help reduce transport fares, lower the cost of transporting food items, and ultimately moderate food prices in towns and cities.

GOIL noted that the initiative aligns with its role as a national energy company with a responsibility not only to remain competitive but also to support broader socio-economic objectives, particularly during periods of economic recovery.

The company said the pricing decision has been made possible by improving economic fundamentals, including greater macroeconomic stability, easing inflationary pressures and enhanced confidence in the economy. It attributed these developments to recent economic management measures, which have created room for businesses to pass on cost savings to consumers.

GOIL PLC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national development through responsible pricing, efficient operations and strategic interventions that positively affect the daily lives of Ghanaians.

It encouraged commercial drivers and transport operators to take advantage of the reduced prices at the designated GOIL stations as it continues to provide what it describes as “Good Energy” to power Ghana’s growth.
