Police in Tema have intercepted 1,613 suspected narcotic substances during an operation conducted between 10 and 11 January 2026, authorities said.
The operation involved routine checks and targeted surveillance of vehicles in the area.
In the early hours of 11 January, at around 12:45 a.m., officers stopped two vehicles: a white Toyota Highlander with registration number GS 2013 13 and a black Mitsubishi Pajero registered GC 400 22. The vehicles were found carrying large quantities of suspected narcotics.
Police said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the Greater Accra Region. Those arrested are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to trace the source and intended destination of the seized substances.
Authorities called on the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to help prevent the circulation of illegal drugs in the country.
