The Ghana Armed Forces have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and security in Northern Ghana, assuring residents of sustained protection of lives and property in 2026 and beyond.
The military says it remains fully prepared to respond decisively to any threats that could undermine stability in the region, which continues to experience sporadic security challenges.
The Base Commander of the Air Force Base in Tamale and 6 Garrison Commander, Air Commodore Adu-Gyamfi, gave the assurance while speaking at the Inter-Wing Games held in Tamale as part of the Air Force Base’s West Africa Soldiers Social Activity (WASSA).
Addressing military personnel, he emphasized the need for constant vigilance, unity, and professionalism, noting that Northern Ghana remains a sensitive security zone that requires heightened alertness.
Air Commodore Adu-Gyamfi described the military as the “gatekeepers of security” and stressed that personnel must remain focused in the discharge of their duties. He expressed confidence in the capacity of the Armed Forces to deal with any emerging threats, adding that no adversary is strong enough to overwhelm the military when unity and discipline are maintained among troops.
He further appealed to residents of the Northern Region to actively support security agencies by providing timely and credible information. According to him, peace cannot be achieved by the military alone, but through strong collaboration with local communities. He reiterated that military personnel deployed to the region come from all parts of the country and are united by a common goal of ensuring lasting peace and stability for the people of Northern Ghana.
