Kwabena Agyepong’s presidential campaign is anchored on party unity, internal reform, and a six-point national development agenda, according to his executive aide, Willem Coleman.
Coleman told the Asaase Breakfast Show on Friday (9 January) that the campaign’s primary outreach tool, dubbed the “Unity Dialogues,” is built on the belief that disunity has historically cost the New Patriotic Party electoral victories.
“Anytime the party has not been united, we lost elections. Anytime we came together, we won,” he said.
Beyond unity, Coleman said Agyepong is seeking to revive what he describes as the party’s founding values of service, sacrifice and selflessness, arguing that increasing militancy and money-driven politics have alienated sections of the Ghanaian electorate.
“He wants to bring back those values that made the party attractive in the early 1990s,” Coleman noted, positioning this as key to winning back public trust ahead of the 2028 general elections.
On governance, Coleman outlined a six-point plan for Ghana, with land reform as a central pillar. He argued that a proper land registration and tenure system would unlock capital for ordinary Ghanaians and help address unemployment.
“If families can properly title their ancestral lands, they can use them as collateral to expand farms and businesses. That is a practical way of creating jobs,” he said.
The plan also prioritises meritocracy in public service appointments and a reduction in political interference in sensitive state institutions such as hospitals and the military.
Coleman criticised the frequent replacement of heads of public institutions following changes in government, describing it as “dangerous” and detrimental to institutional stability.
He said these policy positions, coupled with Agyepong’s emphasis on unity, have resonated strongly with delegates during nationwide engagements.
