The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has successfully evacuated three Ghanaian traders injured in a terrorist attack in northern Burkina Faso.
The attack occurred on 14 February 2026 in the town of Titao, where suspected Islamist militants ambushed a truck carrying Ghanaian tomato traders.
At least eight traders were killed, three men and one woman were seriously injured, while seven women escaped unharmed. Witnesses said the attackers separated men from women before opening fire and setting the truck ablaze.
The evacuation mission was carried out on 17 February by the Ghana Air Force. The injured traders have been transferred to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra for medical assessment and treatment.
In a statement, Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations for the Ghana Armed Forces, offered condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
She said the operation forms part of the Government’s coordinated humanitarian and security response to the attack.
The incident has raised concern about the safety of Ghanaian traders operating in neighbouring countries affected by Islamist insurgency in the Sahel region.
