MPs, regional executives back Danny Antwi in NPP-USA branch election

A quiet but increasingly competitive contest is unfolding within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the United States as senior party figures line up behind Danny Opoku Antwi for the position of Branch Organizer, praising his organisational ability, loyalty, and grassroots mobilisation skills.

Two Members of Parliament and a regional party executive have publicly expressed confidence in Antwi’s candidacy, describing him as a unifying figure with a long record of internal party service.

MP for Manhyia North, Akwasi Konadu, said his personal experience working with Antwi over the years left him convinced of his suitability for the role.

“I have known and worked with Danny Opoku Antwi personally for over two decades. One thing that stands out about him is his dedication to service, teamwork, and results,” Konadu said.

He added that Antwi has consistently demonstrated commitment to the party’s growth and unity, particularly within the NPP-USA branch, through what he described as “hard work, humility, and active participation when called upon.”

According to him, Antwi’s strength lies in his ability to bring people together and prioritise collective political goals over personal ambition.

MP for Afigya Kwabre North, Collins Adomako-Mensah, also endorsed Antwi, describing him as a dependable organiser with a strong understanding of party structures.

“I had known you. Worked with you. Strategized with you. I have no doubt about your capabilities,” he said, adding his full confidence in Antwi’s ability to deliver if elected.

In a similar endorsement, Pope Yao Yevoo, Volta Regional Secretary of the NPP, recalled working with Antwi during his earlier student leadership days, highlighting his progression through various organisational roles.

“Danny is cut out for this role. I knew him way back when I was TTAG Volta Sector President. He was TTAG-ASHBA Secretary and later transitioned to Coordinator roles. I believed in his organisational acumen and so he will deliver,” he said.

Yevoo described Antwi as someone with a consistent record of coordination and grassroots mobilisation, qualities he said were critical for strengthening overseas party structures.

Antwi’s supporters say his campaign is centred on unity, discipline, and revitalising the NPP-USA branch through stronger engagement with members and improved coordination.

They argue that his experience within both student and party structures positions him to bridge internal divisions and enhance organisational effectiveness.

“He is approachable, dependable, and understands the importance of bringing people together for a common purpose,” one supporter said.

The endorsement drive reflects growing attention on diaspora party structures, which are increasingly seen as important for fundraising, mobilisation, and international outreach ahead of future electoral cycles.

Antwi has not yet publicly outlined a full campaign manifesto, but supporters say his focus remains on teamwork, grassroots mobilisation, and strengthening the party’s presence in the United States.
