The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has deployed 27 national officers to oversee branch elections for its external chapters across the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Asia Pacific, according to a memo dated 21 May.
The memo, signed by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, said the deployment forms part of the party’s commitment to ensuring “transparent, credible, peaceful and well-coordinated elections” within its external branches.
Under the directive, three-member External Branch Elections Committees will be chaired by the designated national officers.
The committees are tasked with conducting elections in jurisdictions including the Netherlands, Nigeria, Denmark, Sweden, Japan, South Korea, France, the United States, South Africa, Canada, Austria, China, Ireland, Russia, Hong Kong, Norway, Belgium, Germany, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, the Middle East branch, Spain, Equatorial Guinea, Australia, Italy, the Czech Republic, Finland and Senegal.
Officers assigned include Second National Vice Chairperson Rita Talata Asobayire for the Netherlands, Third National Vice Chairman Alhaji Masawudu Osman for Nigeria, National Treasurer Dr. Charles Dwamena for Denmark, and National Organizer Henry Nana Boakye for Sweden. The list also covers youth, women, research, communications, IT, finance and external affairs directorates.
The memo directs all external branches to submit the names and contacts of their appointed representatives and Council of Elders chairpersons to the General Secretary through the Director of External Affairs.
Branches must also provide electoral albums with email addresses and contact numbers of eligible members to the committees by Sunday (31 May).
Branches are required to ensure eligibility criteria comply with Article 8(4) of the party constitution, which allows external branches to formulate rules provided they remain consistent with the NPP constitution.
All assigned officers are instructed to discharge their responsibilities with “diligence, neutrality and professionalism in the supreme interest of the Party.”
