Police launch manhunt over leaked nude images in Tamale

The Northern Regional Police Command has launched a manhunt for a suspect accused of circulating intimate images and videos of a woman in Tamale.

The explicit content, which allegedly showed the victim naked in a vehicle with a man, surfaced online weeks after the incident reportedly occurred, sparking public outrage and concern among residents.

According to information gathered, the suspect allegedly filmed the victim and later threatened to release the images unless she complied with certain sexual demands.

Reports indicate that the victim refused the demands, leading to the circulation of the images on social media and other online platforms. The incident has since been reported to the police for investigations, while the suspect is said to have gone into hiding.

The victim reportedly suffered emotional trauma after the images went viral and received support from neighbours and well-wishers in the community. Tamale-based lawyer Sylvester Isang has volunteered to represent the victim free of charge and vowed to pursue every legal avenue to ensure the suspect is arrested and prosecuted according to the law.

Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Police Commander, Wisdom Lavoe, disclosed that the police have engaged the Department of Social Welfare and other stakeholders to provide counselling, protection and support for the victim. Residents in Tamale have also called on the police to swiftly apprehend the suspect and ensure justice is served to discourage similar acts in society.
