Jinapor announces full restoration of power after system disruption

The Energy and Green Transition Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor, has announced the full restoration of all power generation units following a major system disruption that affected electricity supply in parts of the country.

In a Facebook post shared on Friday, 1 May, the Minister said the national power system has now been stabilised after intensive repair and recovery efforts by technical teams.

According to him, engineers, technicians and emergency response teams worked around the clock under challenging conditions to restore operations.

He described their efforts as a demonstration of discipline, professionalism and patriotism in safeguarding the national grid.

Dr Jinapor also commended the leadership and staff of key state power institutions — the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), Volta River Authority and the Electricity Company of Ghana — for their coordination and swift response.

He noted that collaboration among the agencies played a critical role in restoring stability within the energy sector and ensuring the resumption of electricity supply.

The Minister said the successful recovery highlights Ghana’s capacity to rely on local expertise and institutional resilience during periods of national difficulty.

He concluded by expressing appreciation to the technical teams and offering prayers for engineers, the energy sector and the country as a whole.
