R&B singer Ray J has sparked widespread online debate after claiming he has slept with 12,500 different women during an appearance on Cam Newton’s Funky Friday podcast, released on 24 April.
The 45-year-old singer, who is also known as the younger brother of Grammy-winning artist Brandy and for his widely publicised 2003 sex tape involving Kim Kardashian, said the figure represents individual partners, not repeated encounters.
Ray J said he had been tracking the milestone closely and even organised a celebration when he reached 10,000 partners, which he described as a “massive parade” held at the Booby Trap club with between 400 and 500 women in attendance.
Podcast host Cam Newton challenged the claim in real time, pointing out that the number would require an average of more than one sexual partner per day over several decades.
Ray J responded without hesitation, arguing that the pace of his lifestyle, particularly during tours, made the figure plausible.
“When we’re on tour, we’re thinking five to ten a day,” he said, adding that about 3,500 of those encounters involved group situations with three or more people.
Newton said his own number would not “scratch 1,000,” a claim Ray J openly dismissed.
There is no independent verification of the figures, and the claims remain anecdotal, based solely on the singer’s own account during the podcast interview.
After the discussion, Ray J shifted tone when speaking about his estranged wife, actress Princess Love, with whom he shares two children. He described her as unmatched, praising her as a “great mom” and saying she “deserves” respect despite their strained relationship.
