Isaac Opando has strongly rejected allegations of nepotism involving his sister, Rosemary Estella Opandoh, describing claims made by MP Ekow Vincent Assafuah as false and damaging.
Speaking during a call-in on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Monday (20 April), Opandoh denied any familial link between his sister and the NPRA Chief Executive Officer.
“That is a complete falsehood. None of my sisters is married to the CEO,” he said.
He defended his sister’s qualifications, stating that she holds advanced degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science and has 17 years of professional experience across multiple sectors.
Opandoh also argued that her appointment as Risk Manager followed due process and was necessitated by the urgent need to fill a vacancy after the previous occupant resigned.
“In risk management, you cannot leave a vacuum. Management had to act quickly,” he explained.
He further accused the MP of failing to verify information before making public claims, warning that such actions could damage reputations unfairly.
The exchange highlights escalating tensions over governance issues at the NPRA, with both sides maintaining sharply opposing positions.
