The Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has commended renowned Ghanaian lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata for his significant influence on legal thought and practice in the country.
She noted that over the years, Tsikata has not only shaped legal outcomes but has also contributed to elevating the quality of legal thinking and debate in Ghana.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang made the remarks at the UPSA Law School honourific lecture and awards ceremony held on Wednesday, 15 April 2026, under the theme “Celebrating the Lifetime Achievements of Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata.”
According to her, Tsikata’s work has played a key role in shaping national discourse and influencing how legal issues are understood in Ghana.
“His works have helped shape how we think about Ghana. At the very personal level, I feel very privileged to be here today. Mr Tsatsu Tsikata’s career and journey have been defined by scholarship, advocacy, and public service,” she said.
She added that his contributions extend beyond courtroom victories, emphasising his role in strengthening the intellectual depth of legal discussions in the country.
“He has, over the years, shaped legal debates. He has not only influenced outcomes, but the quality of legal thinking,” she stated.
The Vice President described Tsikata’s career as one grounded in scholarship, advocacy and public service, noting that his professional journey reflects excellence and intellectual discipline.
She further highlighted that his approach to the law demonstrates a deep appreciation of it not just as a profession, but as a discipline that requires rigour, independence and sound judgement.
“His career reflects a particular understanding of the law, not only as a profession, but also as a discipline that demands rigour, independence and judgement,” she said.
